With so many options out there to keep your vehicle clean, it can be hard to decide which is best, and what to use in summer or winter? I have over the years narrowed it down to one option with a few differences depending on if I'm indoors, if it's 100 degrees outside or 16 degrees there is only one method I use. The rinsless wash, specifically "onr" living in California when I started we were in a drought, so I researched this method and all the different ways it can be done. It by far is the best method for me personally and I have not gone away from it. There is a lot of controversy over this subject whether it will cause more marring or swirls over the traditional two bucket method with a ton of soap and water hose. I still use soap when I get to wheels and tires and very little water is used to rinse them off I average 2 gallons of water per vehicle. Back to rinsless washing, right now we are in the beginning of the year here in Utah and it's cold. Vehicles this time of the year are covered on a white chalky salt, so I rinse the surface down with a pump sprayer starting from the top to allow the water to run down dissolve the salt and take it down as it runs off, depending on how cold it is I'll do panel by panel or the whole vehicle at once if evaporation isn't happening quickly. I have a bucket of wash solution "optimum no rinse wash and shine" a chenille MIT and as many clean rags as will fit. I use one rag per panel folded in fours and flip it often revealing a nice clean side as I glide it over the surface, then follow behind a nice cleaned surface with a damp clean rag with my wax or sealant of choice to wipe dry ringing it out often leaving behind a dry and protected panel that looks amazing.
More about my product of choice
"Before No Rinse Wash & Shine (ONR), there was no choice other than to use regular car wash shampoos that impact on water restrictions, and in many areas these shampoos are simply no longer allowed. No more! Optimum offers the only alternative product that cleans AND protects your vehicle and protects the environment too. It will reduce the water usage to a fraction of a conventional car wash. No Rinse Wash & Shine is the most technologically advanced car wash system to date, that requires just a single bucket of water to wash an entire car. Optimum No Rinse & Shine (as the name suggests) does not require rinsing with a hose since there are no soapy surfactants to wash off into the storm drains.
This unique product contains substantive polymers that bond to the paint and protect it from abrasion during the wash. These polymers offer greater protection and lubrication than conventional car washes and leave a slick and glossy finish behind afterwards. The waste water in the bucket can be used to water the lawn or disposed of into a sink, where it will be treated. Other additional benefits of No Rinse Wash & Shine are faster washes, the ability to wash anywhere at any time including washing inside the garage during winter, no messy runoffs, and a better-looking finish. These are just some of the reasons No Rinse Wash & Shine is being used by many people across the world, saving millions of liters of water every year."
There are two choices of product they offer
wash and shine, and wash and wax, I mostly use shine, so I can be in control of what final product goes on the vehicles per customers choice and not waste the extra addition of wax, if I will be doing paint correction. Also, for interiors I have a more concentrated dilution of onr as an exterior and interior detailer, to wipe down surfaces leaves a great smell and a nice clean look. And I can also use it as an overlay to spray over freshly sealed paint as added polymer and wax protection.
